Rescue and Resuscitation (R&R) is one of Surf Life Saving’s most traditional and prestigious team events, showcasing precision, discipline, and lifesaving skills.
Teams of two, five, or six members perform a simulated rescue and resuscitation of a patient, following strict procedures and judged on accuracy, timing, and teamwork. The event demonstrates core surf lifesaving techniques such as patient approach, rescue methods, CPR, and signals communication. Competitors wear traditional uniforms and perform synchronised movements with military-style precision.
R&R reflects the origins of surf lifesaving, emphasising teamwork, rescue proficiency, and the commitment to maintaining excellence in lifesaving methods and training.
