General course information
Upon successful completion of this course you will be awarded with the SLSA Advanced Resuscitation Techniques award. You will also receive the following nationally recognised qualification and units of competency issued through Surf Life Saving Queensland (RTO 2804):
- HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- HLTAID015 – Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
Specific entry requirements
- Must be a financial member of Redcliffe Peninsula SLSC
- The pre-requisite unit is HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
- Be at least 15 years of age on date of final assessment
Course overview
Advanced Resuscitation aims to provide participants with the necessary skills, knowledge and applications to use advanced resuscitation techniques. It is specifically designed for individuals wishing to safely administer oxygen by facemask or mechanical resuscitator to a breathing or non-breathing casualty.
Assessment
Assessment is through demonstration, presentation and application of all elements of competency in a simulated workplace setting. Participants will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios.
Annual skills maintenance/proficiency requirements
For this award to remain current, candidates must perform an annual proficiency check.
